I created an illustration of LeBron James to symbolically give him the crown he has always deserved. Using a limited colour palette of purple, yellow, and white, I referenced both the Lakers’ branding and the traditional symbolism of royalty, with yellow representing gold for the crown on his head.

In the piece, LeBron is shown sitting on a throne embedded within the basketball he’s holding, a visual metaphor for him holding his legacy as one of the greatest players of all time. I experimented with cross-hatching techniques to build depth in the illustration and used radiating background shapes to guide the viewer’s eye toward the centre. Finally, I applied a canvas-like texture to bring a tactile quality to the overall composition.
